After making so many images with my abstract “hurling” method, I tried a new technique for Jubilation. It’s sort of like combining Sumerian cuneiform and hieroglyphics with faith-based painting to open the door– a door of brilliant color that both exemplifies and transcends celebration, a conquering of the code through creative intention and spirit.
I made this work on a small canvas that I found on the roadside. I don’t use fragile (to me) canvas very much, and I definitely put it through the test of my blowtorch. I even burned a small hole through the canvas right above my initials. This work was loved so dearly by a friend, she now owns it. I bartered with her for some simple things I needed. For this reason only prints are available, but that way, I get to share it with many more people.
